PDFer - Private, In-Browser PDF Tools
A free PDF toolkit I built and run - 31 tools to merge, split, compress, convert, edit, sign and secure PDFs, all running entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and files are erased on exit.
Scope: Solo build: 31 client-side PDF tools - merge, convert, edit, sign, secure - all in-browser, nothing uploaded. Live at pdfer.cc.
A self-initiated, free PDF toolkit I built and run - live at pdfer.cc. 31 tools to merge, split, compress, convert, edit, sign and secure PDFs, all running entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and files are erased on exit - GDPR and ISO-27001-minded by design.
The Challenge
Every "free" online PDF tool asks you to upload sensitive documents to someone else's server, gates the useful operations behind a subscription, and quietly keeps your files. For contracts, IDs and financials that is a real privacy problem. The opening was a complete PDF toolkit that does everything locally in the browser - no upload, no account, no trace.
The Solution
Built as a fully client-side web app: every operation - merge, split, remove and organise pages, compress, OCR, repair, convert to and from JPG/Word/PowerPoint/Excel, rotate, page numbers, watermark, annotate, crop, fill forms, unlock, protect, sign, redact and compare - runs in the browser with zero bytes uploaded, and files are wiped from memory on exit. 31 tools grouped into Organize, Optimize, Convert, Edit and Security, with AI summarise/translate on the way. Privacy-first and standards-minded (GDPR, ISO 27001).

“I built PDFer because every free PDF tool wanted me to upload private documents to their server. PDFer does everything in your browser - no upload, no account, erased on exit. The same privacy-first, ship-it-properly discipline I bring to client work.”
